Amristewari Foundation of Malaysia was inaugurated on 23rd April 2006 in Kuala Lumpur. It is a tax-excempt charitable organization established under the Companies Act to provide facilities and services to help the poor and needy. The Foundation is dedicated in setting up institutions and facilities to provide the poor and needy with educational opportunities, health care, social services and disaster relief irrespective of nationality, age, race, religion, sex, colour or creed.
SERVICES
The community Service Centers in Puchong and Semenyih provide social and welfare services for 46 single mothers and 130 children. It includes the provision of educational and vocational training skills building, guidance and counseling for these single mothers and children. In addition, medical healthcare services are also extended to all of them. Due to the increasing number of the underprivileged single mothers and children, the Foundation is setting up new services centers and building of 2 vocational centers, one in Kampung Melor, Puchong and the other in Taman Tasik Semenyih, Semenyih.
CHARITY PROGRAMME
It is with this intention that the Foundation hopes to have a charity programme comprising visually blind and impaired dancers from Beijing (China), Chennai (India) and Malaysia. There will also be instrumentals from blind composers and singers from Chennai, India and Malaysia. This is a show of the handicapped and a total of 70 artistes will be performing on the 26th and 27th July, 2008 at the KL Convention Center. The proceeds of this programme will fund the new community service centers and the building of the two vocational centers.
1. The China Disabled People's Performing Act Troupe
This group was founded in 1987. The Troupe has reached a relatively mature phase after several generations of the disabled performers endeavor. The artistic achievements and spirits progressed to a summit. These children with disabilities nourished the dream of promoting Special Art to people all over the world and spreading the notion of peace and friendship by means of dance. The Performing Troupe bears the dreams of people with disabilities and creates a special art which delights audiences, purifying the soul with Truth, Honesty and Virtue. They are referred to as a "Messenger of Beauty and Humanity" by the international community and as "Touch Bearer for Special Art" and "Image Ambassador for People with Disabilities".
On 26th and 27th July, this troupe will perform 7 dances. The piece de resistance will be the Avalokitsvara Bodhisattava. In Budhism, 42 hands represent a thousand hands. But the main artiste with hearing impairment and other 20 hearing impaired dancers stand on the lotus stage just like one person with a thousand hands.
2. Dancers and Singers from Chennai, India
a) Sudha Chandran is well known film actress and dancer. She earned the name "Natya Mayuri" when a the age of 17, she lost her right leg and with help of the world most famous "Jaipur Foot", she regained the glory of her skill.
b) The Bangalore Dancers - Comprising 5 visually disabled dancers have acquired the skill of a complex dance form of Bharatha Natyam.
c) Comagan - a visually impaired musician with his orchestra of 40 visually disabled group created a record of 16 hours non-stop musical concert and it is now in the Guiness World Record. All in the group will perform 6 dancers, instrumentals and sing a medley of songs.
3. Malaysia "Grooveability"
This is a fifteen piece percussion performing ensemble that was formed in the year 2006 and is fully sponsored by Rumah Amal Cheshire Selangor. This selected group of performers comprise of youth with various disabilities selected from participants called "Rhythm Dynamic Program". The participants of this program comprise of youths with cerebral palsy and learning disabilities.
The Amriteswari Foundation with these aims in mind, need financial support to manage this great work that has been entrusted by people throughout Malaysia. The support can be in the form of donations or in kind to support the welfare of the children and mothers.
